Shincheonji teaches that true faith can save you, the members of the church of Jesus are receiving salvation on the final judgment. It is a Christian new religious movement, believers of Jesus. Members of the New Heaven New Earth followed the teachings and words of God according to the Holy Scripture. Anyone who is not in the group can’t be saved and be denied forgiveness, they will be destroyed. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the group turned the center of major scrutiny all around South Korea.
The founder of the Church of Jesus
The teachings in Shincheonji claim that their pastor, named Lee, is the pastor promised in the New testament. The Book of Revelation wrote in a parable, which the founder is the only one capable of deciphering. Way back before when Lee was still a member of the Olive Tree, a controversial group, spawned the primary counter-cult movement. Until, Lee founded his religious movement, which is known as the Church of Jesus or NHNE. The religious movement teaches about true faith, which only the members of the group will receive forgiveness and salvation on the final judgment.
The outbreak of the pandemic
It was then that the COVID-19 cases affected one of the members of the religious group. It was a cause to spread to the other church members. The disease spread all over Daegu that created a national outcry to petition the group, requesting the government to disperse NHNE.
The doctrine of this religious movement
NHNE is an apocalyptic group and messianic (in character). It was described as a doomsday cult. The group teaches about the complete destruction of the world on the day of the final judgment. So, if you are not a member of them, once you enter their church and hear about the preaching, you will know how they see the world as big destruction on the final day. The believers strongly believed in God and preached the words of God according to the Bible. The believers of the religious movement called the founder the promised pastor. The followers believed that the founder has the spirit of the returned Jesus Christ. Plus, he is the one who has the capability to correctly interpret what is written in the Bible.
The members of the group believe that only 144, 000 sealed adherents or believers with the pastor will enjoy eternal life. These numbers of sealed adherents will go to heaven with Lee. Many believers of the group are following the teachings of pastor Lee. To them, he is the one sent from heaven by God. The only pastor who knows everything in the Bible and can interpret all the teachings written in the Holy Scripture. Although the religious movement has received bad news about them from the other religious movements, still they continue what they believed and what they have started. The group avoids harassment and discrimination.
